Pioneer Organics has elevated the art of vegetable
eating to a new level. Sign up for their home delivery service and every week (or every other week, if you prefer) a box
of 14 to 16 organic fruits and vegetables will arrive on your doorstep, complete with several suggested recipes. And, the
selection of produce rotates, making each new box a new culinary adventure. The boxes come in three different sizes, and
the contents of the weeks' box are posted on-line prior to delivery. In addition to the usual boxes, Pioneer Organics also
delivers Juicing Variety boxes and a Gardener's Box (which has a selection of goodies to complement a backyard garden).
And, because veggies can be a touchy subject, finicky eaters are allowed to have up to three permanent box exceptions, that
will automatically be replaced with produce of equal value. To complement your veggies, Pioneer Organics also offers organic
bread delivery, and a selection of healthy grocery items, such as soy milk, organic eggs, and recycled goods.

cheese, is available at this U-District shop, but the breads are a special highlight. The rye and pumpernickel is excellent,
as are the German pretzels. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful.

PLANET
Delicious Planet is a life-saver for the health-conscious
and busy individual. Owned by Randi Carter, a graduate of the nutrition program at Bastyr University, Delicious Planet is
a meal delivery service that emphasizes organic ingredients and high-fiber, low-fat recipes. Carter posts the weekly menu
on her website every Wednesday, if it sounds good, notify her by Friday, and come Tuesday four entrees and a week's worth
of salad will be delivered to your door, complete with "heat and eat" instructions. Carter posts a regular and
vegetarian menu, and can also accommodate specific diets upon request. A sampling of weekly entrees finds such mouth-watering
items as Cod with Mediterranean Salsa (substitute tempeh if you're vegetarian) and Chicken with Chevre and Peach Sauce (substitute:
nut patty). Delicious Planet also has a catering service.

Brie & Bordeaux, a small wine-and-cheese
shop, packs its small space with finely chosen cheeses that match their wines most exactly. As the name indicates, French
wine is a specialty. Salami, proscuitto, and pate are also on hand, and bimonthly classes on wine and cheese are very well
attended.
