Bill
Gates-Related Attractions
Love him or hate him, Bill Gates is an icon of our modern world. And, since this Richest Man in the World lives on our turf,
there are ample opportunities to gawk at a few of his art and artifacts. If you're an employee, vendor, contractor or business visitor for Microsoft,
you can visit the Microsoft Museum (4420 148th Ave.
NE, Building 127, Redmond) which is packed with interactive exhibits that document, preserve, and commemorate this 25 year old corporate
giant. Some of the highlights of the museum include a look at day-to-day life inside Microsoft, and a chance to play around with some of the
new technologies that Microsoft is creating - including a neat interactive digital piano. For those who don't have the credentials or connections
to get inside the museum, all is not lost. Just hop on an Argosy Lake Cruise
(Pier 55; [206] 623-4252) and not only get a wonderful tour of some of Seattle's finest waterfront views, but a chance to peek at the $50
million structure that is the Bill Gates Home. Since most of the house/complex is built into the hill, only a part of it is visible to the eye
- but unless you're one of the lucky few who get invited over for a Gates' family dinner, this is as close as you're going to get to the legendary
geek retreat. |
